    66000 J

    Explanation:

    Firstly we look for the specific heat capacity of paraffin,

    Q = cm (ΔФ) ... Equation 1

    Where Q = energy required to raise the temperature of paraffin, c = specific heat capacity of paraffin, m = mass of paraffin, ΔФ = change in temperature.

    make c the subject of the equation,

    c = Q / (mΔФ) ... Equation 2

    Given: Q = 44000 Joules, m = 1 kg, ΔФ = 20 °C

    Substitute into equation 2

    c = 44000 / (1*20)

    c = 2200 J/kg.°C

    When,

    m = 3 kg, ΔФ = 10 °C

    substitute into equation 1

    Q = 2200 (3) (10)

    Q = 66000 J.

    Hence the amount of heat required = 66000 J
