Some people refer to nuclear power as "clean energy." Why do they make this argument? Do you agree or disagree? Explain your answer.

Nuclear power is produced from radioactive fission of unstable isotopes. In this reaction, heavier nuclides are broken down into smaller ones with the production of energy.

Nuclear power is often dubbed a clean energy source beacuse no environmental harm like pollution and contamination results from its use. A clean energy is one in which no pollution whatsoever results from.

Nuclear power is not a clean energy source.

1. Extract of the fuel (uranium) from rocks involves tredious mining procedures. Most times, for the ore body to be accessed, the overlying earth must be completely removed and shafts must be erected. Extraction of uranium poses serious environmental issue. Arable lands can be lost in the process.

2. Disposing radioactive waste can be a serious environmental problem. Radioactive wastes in spent rods of nuclear reactors are very difficult to dispose. These radioactive wastes are not environmentally friendly and can cause serious degradation on the sustainable use of the environment.

3. Radioactive leaks are serious environmental challenges that must be avoided at all cost.
