-renewable
-emissionless
-reduces distance required for electricity to travel
- can be produced effectively on small scale
Disadvantage
-No continual supply-doesnt function on cloudy days or at nightime
-expensive
-inefficient, best solar panels today are only 40% efficient, most are worse
