What does it mean to say an object is electrically polarized?

    To say an object is electrically polarized means that the object has both positive and negative charges. For example, when a charge that is either negative or positive is brought near a neutral object, the electrons in this object separate to different sides of the item. Positive charges are on one side and negative charges are on the other side. This is an electrically polarized object.

    One side is more negative or positive than the opposite side is the meaning of an object been electrically polarized. Polarization occurs when an electric flied distort the negative cloud of electrons around the positive atomic nuclei in a direction opposite to the field.
