    The appropriate answer is b. the ending of an ice age. The Pleistocene epoch began 1.8 million years ago. The last ice age is known as the Wisconsin Glaciation, which peaked around 18,000 years ago. During this period there was more than three times the amount of ice on Earth today.

    The continents were larger because water was locked in ice and so the shelves surrounding the continents were exposed. The land bridge between Asia and Alaska was created because of this drop in sea level.
