What happens to kinetic energy as a pendulum swings?

    Basically, kinetic energy is energy that is being put to use while potential energy is energy that is being stored. Therefore in this case, the pendulum is slowly using up its kinetic energy and is thus slowing down. Therefore kinetic energy slowly diminishes as the pendulum swing if that makes sense?

    Kinetic energy is greatest at the bottom of the swing, and zero at the edges. Potential energy is just the opposite. The kinetic and potential energy of the pendulum smoothly trade off during the swing. And except for the little bit of energy lost to friction and air resistance during each swing, their sum remains constant.
