Due to immense heat generated in the Earth's core the Magnetic field rises vertically out from the Sun creating a sunspot. This Sunspot can expel highly magnetized charged particles which can reach the outer Earth atmosphere and can be in turn swept up by the Earths magnetic field which can interact with the Earths charged particles creating Aurora and other Electrical problems to Electrical lines and possible power fluctuations.
