Why are metals better conductors of electricity than glass or ceramic materials?

    Metals have a larger number of loose electrons, while the electrons in glass and ceramics are packed tighter. Electricity is a flow of electrons, so looser electrons allow an easier flow.

    Metals have free electrons which are mobile and which would be involved in the conduction of electricity unlike glass and ceramic materials.
