This area is called an electric field. Normally It is also known as the electrostatic field and it is defined as the area or space where any form of charge exists. This charge is usually created by an object and is therefore experienced in close proximity to the source. The proportion and direction of this charge is called electric field strength/intensity and can be expressed using the value E.
