So I know that Inertia keeps satellites in orbit, but how exactly does it keep them in orbit?

    To put it simply: satellites are constantly falling. It's just that the velocity they are given (from rockets) and the height they are launched at allows the projectile motion of the satellite to match the curve of the earth, thus never actually hitting the ground, just circling.
