An astronaut on the planet Trappist-1b tosses a rock horizontally with a speed of 7.95m/s. The rock falls through a vertical distance of 2.35m and lands horizontal distance of 9.57m from the astronaut. What is the acceleration of gravity on Trappist-1b?

    In this case, there are two displacements: Dx and Dy

    Dy = 2.35 m

    Dx = 9.57 m

    Vx = 7.95 m/s

    Now, Dx = Vxt = > t = Dx/Vx = 9.57/7.95 = 1.204 seconds

    Then,

    Dy = Vit+1/2gt^2 = > g = (Dy-Viyt) * 2/t^2 = (2.35-0) * 2/1.204^2 = 3.242 m/s^2

    Therefore,

    Gravitational acceleration = 3.242 m/s^2
