"Optics" is one field of study in Science. It's the branch of Physics that involves
the behavior and properties of light, including its interactions with matter and the
construction of instruments that use or detect light.
So, light is the relatively skinny sliver of the electromagnetic spectrum that we can
see, and Optics is the science that studies it.
