How the gravitational potential change with distance in gravitational field?

    When an object with mass is near a massive object that is exerting a gravitational field, the first object is said to be in a "gravitational well". In this well, the gravitational potential is negative. As the object moves away from the source of gravity, the potential increases, and becomes 0 at an infinite distance from the gravitational field.
