What is the heating capacity, in BTUs, of a cylindrical storage tank of natural gas with a radius of 3 feet and a height of 10 feet? Assume that 1 cubic foot of propane contains 2,516 BTUs and 1 cubic foot of natural gas contains 1,030 BTUs. Use 3.14 for pi, and round your answer to the nearest BTU.

    There are several information's already given in the question. Let us write them down first.

    Radius of the tank = 3 feet

    Height of the tank = 10 feet

    Value of pi = 3.14

    Then

    Volume of the cylindrical tank = 3.14 * (3) ^2 * 10

    = 3.14 * 9 * 10

    = 282.6 ft^3

    Now

    Heating capacity of 1 cubic foot of natural gas = 1030 BTU's

    Then

    Heating capacity of 282.6 cubic foot of natural gas = 1030 * 282.6

    = 291078 BTU's
