What is the equation for calculating a machine's efficiency?

I searched all over my textbook and couldn't find it, so I decided to post my question here.

    Efficiency is usually defined as how much useful work output do you get for each unit of work input.

    Efficiency = work output/work input

    Work input = effort force * effort distance

    Work output = load force * load distance
