How do you use the periodic table to recall the ionic charge of an alkali metal, and alkaline earth metal, or aluminum

    You look at its placement. If it is in the first column it has a charge of 1 + when it bonds. If it is in the second column it has a charge of 2+. Aluminum is a weird one. You just have to remember that it has a charge of 3 + when it bonds.
