What is difficult about African liberation organized around ideas of nationalism?

The problem is the meaning of nationalism in Africa. Nationalism is the devotion to one's country, but many of African countries' borders are artificial, and they split linguistic and ethnic groups. For many people it is hard to identify with their country, as more people in another country speak their own language than inside their own country, for example.
