A top-two nonpartisan primary system, like the system in California and Washington state, is a two stage system where all candidates, regardless of party affiliation, appear on the same ballot.

Presidential Primary is a direct primary for the selection of state delegates to a national party convention and the expression of preference for a U. S. presidential nominee.
