The northern republicans were keen opponents and perhaps assumed that the south had what was approaching to them. They also desired the idea of a railway connection to california from chicago while the southern democrats desired new orleans to be the hub that linked the atlantic, mississippi and pacific. Southern democrats did not upkeep about the idea of reconstruction because they had already been through armageddon and had slight to work out. When the northern baggers left they recommenced control over the old south until the 1950 and 1960. When it came to reconstruction a confederate killed Lincoln and he was substituted by johnson whose sympathy was with the south. The modernization was put on a low burner under the johnson administration and seriously behind and disassemble.
