He was an affirmed racist and little time criminal, Ray started plotting the death of adored civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. in mid 1968. He shot and executed King in Memphis on April 4, 1968, admitting to the wrongdoing the next March, and he passed away in jail on April 23, 1998.
