First, the western countries developed agricultural reproduction to supply the needed raw materials for self-consumption. Because of the slave trade, they used these people in agricultural to maximize production. It gave way to produce much more of the raw materials that caused surplus production. As a result, they have to export the products outside the market, other countries.

Commerce was the main reason to develop roads and other forms of transportation. The development of trade produced enough capital to get more raw materials outside of the country. Later on, was used to build industries and mechanize production.
