How do societies organize the way we produce distribute and consume goods

We need to make a profit off the goods we sell so if it costs 3 dollars to make a plastic toy it would get sold for an amount higher than 3 dollars, if a lot of consumers buy the product then the price will rise but if not many people want the product getting produced then the price will go down so people will buy it.
