Which way were the due process protections provided in the Bill of Rights later extended?

    The individual freedoms which are contained in the Bill of Rights (ratified in 1791) were later extended by the Fourteenth Amendment (adopted in 1868) to also include protection from deprivation of the right to due process by the actions of state and local governments.
