unemployment rates can vary depending on various socio-economic factors. In the U. S segregation has left a markable difference between black and white due to schools being segregated and black schools being underfunded has a high proportion of the black community poor and unable to afford higher education. Gender does not affect unemployment as much as the others but women in particular find it had to receive well paying jobs. In today's economy a higher education is required to score a well paying job. Those who come from a poor background (either economically or socially) tend not to attend college due to high tuition fees and thus tend to find difficulties in finding jobs. During a recession when the economy has nosedived the number of jobs available are less and thus more people spend more time unemployed.
