1.1 identify conditions and or disabilities that may impact on an individual's ability to negotiate familiar and unfamiliar environments

There are several disabilities which may impact an individual's ability to negotiate both familiar and unfamiliar environments. Being blind, deaf, unable to walk and confined to a wheelchair are just a few of the first conditions that come to mind. While individuals with these disabilities can learn to cope with familiar environments easily, they will find it somewhat harder to navigate unfamiliar environments without assistance at first.
