What increased tension between the colonists and the British government in 1774?

The passing of the Intolerable Acts increased the tension between the colonists and the British government in 1774. These laws were passed by the British parliament after the Boston Tea Party. These laws were created to punish the colonists that took part in the Boston tea Party and dumped a large shipment of tea in the ocean.
