Was the Renaissance a continuation of or a separate era of the Middle Ages?

    The Renaissance is considered a period of time that is a bridge from the Medieval Times and modern history. It happened at the end of the Middle Ages, so we can technically say it is a separate era than the former, because things changed drastically. The Renaissance was a cultural movement where there was a general widespread educational reform. There were many innovations in art and development in science and diplomacy.
