What is a difference between an authoritarian government and a democratic government?

    A democratic government gives citizens the right to directly vote gov't officials into office to represent them.

    On the other hand, authoritarian regimes are built from strong central governments with little to no political freedoms for citizens.

    So, the primary different between a democratic and authoritarian government is the citizens' political power/freedom.
