What benefits might citizens of a centrally planned economy derive from a move toward a market-based system

    First, people/citizenes are going to get freedom to choose what to consume and what to produce/sell.

    Also, the market system should create new jobs positions that give more opportunities for work to the citizens.

    Then, people reduce their dependence in the Government and the power of the political class is less.
