If you were studying suicide in your hometown would you rely more on a qualitative approach or a quantitative approach?

If I were studying suicide in my hometown, I would rely more on a mix of qualitative approach and quantitative approach. The quantitative for investigating the numbers behind the issue and find, if possible, a statistic significance. The qualitative to explore the reasons behind the issue and what could be the possible cause.

    Why?

Just one approach could give partial information. It is important, especially when dealing with such complex issue, to have a frame that is complete in both number and cause/effect, otherwise, the risks is to take countermeasures that address only one part of the problem without focusing on what is really important.
