In what territory was the Tree of the Great Peace planted?

The Tree of Great Peace was planted by the Iroquois, and it referred to the Eastern Great Pines, under which they would bury their weapons. It was originally planted in many places on Iroquois territory, but later only in New York state, when the Iroquois were settled there.
