In Georgia, the governor and lieutenant governor are elected separately.

Georgia is quite different from many other American states in that its lieutenant governor is not elected at the same time as its governor - in most states, they are elected together, but not in Georgia. Georgia's current governor is Nathan Deal (the head of the executive branch), and its lieutenant governor is Casey Cagle (the head of Georgia's Senate).
