    As were identical twins. Our satisfaction with life is not fixed, it is determined by our genes and fluctuates as we continue through our lives. Genes matter, but relationships qualities do as well. In a study done with fraternal and identical twins, about 50% of the difference in happiness ratings between subjects was hereditary.
