Mary was the victim of a predatory crime. It was a robbery, to be more specific, because the man wanted to take her money using threat.

Predatory crime is the most famous common among the four categories of crime. Illegal service crimes, public disorder crimes and crimes of negligence are the other three categories. In a predatory crime, a predator or an offender preys on their victims. Example of this are robbery and murder.
