The death penalty is a consequence that is sometimes used on a person or group that has committed an extreme crime. The death penalty is controversial because many people believe that nobody deserves death. However, other people believe that the death penalty is a reasonable punishment for a large crime. Many people have differing opinions on the topic which makes it strongly controversial.
