Why do you think the law requires an immigrant to live in the United States at least five years before he or she can apply to become a naturalized citizen?

    You have to live in the US five years because they need to know you are commited to the United states government. If they have any notion that you are a terrorist, then if they have enough reason, they can kick you out.
