    Explanation:

    The Mandate was founded after the end of World War 1. It laid ground for formation of independent state. In this Mandate, governing country acted as trustee till local people was able to stand on their own. Once this happened, governing country would terminate the Mandate and an independent state would be born.

    During two years followed after World War in 1918, League of Nations' mandate system formalized British and French control of these territories.

    On 29 September 1923 France was allocated the League of Nations mandate of Syria, which comprised of present day Alexandretta and Lebanon along with Syria.
