Studies have demonstrated that in the US, fathers spend less time with their children than mothers. This may be due to fathers having to work to provide for the family, or mere indifference.

However, over the last 4 decades, this factor has been slowly increasing, and by 1990 fathers were spending 70% more time (compared to mothers) with their children.
