Reinforcing the client's strengths and promoting reminiscing is most important when working with an older adult client.

Explanation:

A percentage of older adults suffer from mental disorders or some other diseases such as anxiety, depression, dementia and substance abuse. To enhance the well-being of the patients, reminiscing therapy is part of the treatment or care regimen. Reminiscing improves one's cognitive functions, enhances good behavior and positively stimulates other psycho social outcomes.

While reminiscing therapy may not be suitable for all older adults their care has to encourage reminiscing one way or the other. Positive reinforcement gives someone hope and reassurance that caregiver cares and is being attentive to the needs of the person being taken care off.
