According to Freud's theory the death instinct can be expressed as the oposite of life instinct. This means the side of a human being that is not the most healthy and positive, instead it is realted to death impulses, negativity, agression and it generates harm instead of good. Freud explainead that every person has both life and death instincts.

Death instincts are related to destruction, this instinct or also called drive leads a person's behavior. This explains why some people harm themselves, and sometimes are not aware of the forces that motivates this behavior.
