    The reason the American colonists felt like they were be denied constitutional liberty is because of "taxation without representation." They wanted to have representatives in the Parliament so that they could have a say in what taxes they would pay, what laws would be passed, and how the government was going to be run, they want to be involved actively in matters that concern them. The king created unreasonable taxes, those taxes were created because Britain just fought a war with the French and Indians and felt the colonies should pay for it.
