William Pen founded Pennsylvania in 1682. He maintained that one man should not impose his will on the majority. Following the above, in the territory where Pen had authority, freedom of religious confession was allowed. Pen propagated trust among people.
Following these principles, he built good relations with the Delaware Indians. He remained remembered in history as a tolerant person, full of understanding, which was a rare case among European immigration authorities on American soil.
