Jack is a second grade student. He seems to have no interest in learning and often daydreams in class and frequently disrupts the class by throwing objects at other students. Using the major theoretical perspectives employed by psychologists as listed above, give two alternative explanations for Jack's classroom behavior. In light of these explanations, what steps could be taken to reduce Jack's disruptive behavior.

    Jack should not be given attention for misbehaving obviously, except to maybe isolate him from the rest of the class. More importantly punishment had not been proven to work nearly as well as reward. The teacher must be on top of things to notice when Jack is behaving, and therefore should ask for his input, or reward him some other way. The best way would possibly be to re-establish what is appropriate to the entire class rather than giving him the independent attention he wants until the teacher can talk with him during recess to ask what is wrong etc. The parent (s) should definitely be told about it, and talked with, maybe they could get Jack involved with other children outside of school or in school activities that will satisfy his need for attention in a healthier way, such as science fair or talent shows etc.
