Review the following information: Max ran an experiment in which he asked people to shake hands with an experimenter (played by a female friend) and rate the experimenter's friendliness, using a self-report measure. The experimenter was always the same person, using the same standard greeting for all participants. People were randomly assigned to either shake hands with her after she had cooled her hands under cold water or to shake hands with her after she has warmed her hands under warm water. Max's results found that people rated the experimenter as more friendly when her hands were warmer than when they were cold. Discuss the following: did this experiment satisfy the casual criterion of temporal precedence (why or why not), what was the control variable, what type of design is this study. Also, how could variable in this study be adapted to learn other variables that impact the perception of friendliness?
