Explanation: Crime in simple terms is any act punishable under the law of a nation, state or community. Crime is an unlawful act which is deemed as an harmful, illegal or grave offense which violates the law of a state or community and punishable by the rule of law.

However, there are some caveats in the law which eliminates certain acts which seems illegal or unlawful from being a crime. These includes unintended or unintentional and justifiable acts. Hence giving a broader dimension to the definition of crime as being an intentional act in violation of criminal law perpetrated without any justifiable or defensible reason and pronounced by the law as being a wrongdoing.
