When people experience intense emotions like fear, anger, or excitement, their hearts tend to speed up and pound. It would be easy to conclude that the heart is what is causing these emotions, but this would be incorrect. This lack of consistency between an apparent relationship between two events and the true course of events demonstrates which of the six principles of scientific thinking?

    Answer: correlation Vs causation

    Explanation:

    What does correlation means?

Correlation refers to how strongly the change between two variables relate linearly. There is no reason given behind why this is so or how this occurs it just shows us that there is a relation between the two variables.

For example correlation pop ice sales and swimsuits sold.

As the sales of pop ice are increasing so do the sales of swimsuit.

There is a relation here that when one variable increases so does the other but there is no reason why or how.

    What does causation mean?

Causation however goes more deeper to tell us why does a change in one variable causes the change in another variable so it shows us that when one of these variables changes it will result to the change of the other variable in a dependent way.

It shows us the dependent relationship between the two variables.

For example when a person exercises their metabolism rate increases so the increase in exercise increases the metabolism of a person.

We know the reason why because when you exercise you start to build muscles which aids in burning fat hence increasing your metabolism rate.

In this text above they may be correlation between intense emotions and heart beat however there is no reason to believe that intense fear is the actual cause of an increase in the heart beat, it is just an existing correlation.
