Is there a logical sequence for the use of power bases that a manager might follow? For instance, should the use of legitimate power usually precede the use of reward power, or vice versa?

    The power bases are divided into two 1. formal power 2. personal power

    Legitimate power comes from having a position of power in an organization, such as being the boss or a key member of a leadership team. This power comes when employees in the organization recognize the authority of the individual.

    Reward power is conveyed through rewarding individuals for compliance with the manager's wishes. This may be done through giving bonuses, raises, a promotion, extra time off from work, etc.

    A manager can decide to utilize his reward power tomits employees before using his legitimate power. This form of reward power could as well make the implementation of legitimate power easy.
