Why do the campaign staffs of presidential candidates pass up large states like California and Texas to concentrate on smaller states like New Mexico or Ohio?

    Answer: This is because large states are decidedly republican or democratic.

    Explanation: large states are decidedly republican, for example Alaska where the Presidential Republican party candidate has won in the last 13 elections or decidedly democratic, for example California where the Democratic party candidate has won in the last 7 elections. It is difficult for a candidate from another party to win these states. However, in smaller states like Ohio, a small margin is enough to win the state.
