The strategy used both by emperor Ashoka and gandhi was the principle of ahimsa, i. e. non-violence and non-injury to all living beings.

    Explanation:

Emperor Ashoka attempted to establish a nonviolent society in the third century BCE India through political means. Gandhi protested against the British rule using principle of non violence. He led Indians on the Salt March in 1930. He led a Hunger Strike (Fast) to support Dalits political rights. They were both dedicated to bringing peaceful change. They tried to change the society by their peaceful measures.
