Before the arrival of Spanish conquistadors, the Aztecs and Incas fought amongst themselves for territorial dominance. After the Spanish arrived, a faction of Aztecs associated themselves with the Spanish in order to overthrow their incumbent emperor Moctezuma. The Aztecs were impressed by the modern weapons that the Spanish used and devised that it was difficult to survive in front of them. Never in history did the Aztecs and the Incas unite.
